How the estimate works
Calls per month are calls per day multiplied by calling days. Answered calls apply your answer rate, and connected minutes multiply answered calls by their average length. The monthly cost multiplies connected minutes by the sum of the voice agent price and the carrier price per minute.
Ways to lower the cost per useful conversation
- Call when your audience is most likely to answer, and limit retries.
- Call from a number people recognise, such as a local mobile number.
- Keep the opening short and the reason for calling clear.

Why is cost based on connected minutes?
Most voice agent platforms and carriers charge for the minutes a call is connected. Calls that ring out or are rejected usually cost little or nothing, so the answer rate has a large effect on the total.
What answer rate should I assume?
It varies widely with the audience, the time of day and whether people recognise the caller. Start with a conservative figure, then replace it with the answer rate you measure in your first week of calls.
